Dr. Saurabh Sethi also noted, gut health is very important: it aids digestion, relieves bloating, and contributes to the overall performance, and overall GI health.

Super fruits aren't just another food trend, they represent an easy and natural way to help improve your digestive system. Adding nutrient-dense fruits to your everyday foods can help your body notice a difference in digestion, relieving bloating and constipation, and supporting gut health. Adding fruits to smoothies is among the simplest options to get all of these benefits, and turning fruits into smoothies makes quick filling breakfasts or snacking delicious and gut friendly.

Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist who has trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford, shared the following smoothie recipe with the super fruit, papaya. This delicious drink can do wonders for your gut health. The influencer and gut health expert shared a video on Instagram on October 4, in which he explained an easy, tasty papaya smoothie recipe that can be eaten for breakfast or enjoyed as an afternoon snack. Dr. Sethi's smoothie might very well be a healthy alternative to the sugar-infused, processed foods most consider as snacks, and drinking it might help with constipation and weight loss. It's worth a try!

Papaya Smoothie Recipe

It takes little to no time to get a nice papaya smoothie going. With that said, here are the ingredients:

-1 cup of ripe papaya, diced

-½ cup of milk (or coconut milk if you want it very creamy)

-½ cup of ice

-1 teaspoon of honey or a sprinkle of cinnamon for sweetness

All you have to do is add all the ingredients to your blender, blend, and your tastiness is ready. Not only is this drink tasty and creamy, it is also gut-friendly, making it a perfect morning combination. If you're looking for a lighter option, you can put in almond or oat milk in place of regular milk without losing taste or nutrients.

Why is papaya a super fruit?

Dr Sethi terms papaya as one of the best fruits for digestion and gut health. He explains, “Papaya is rich in enzymes, fibre, and antioxidants - making it one of the best fruits for digestion and gut health. It is soothing for heartburn, helps with bloating, and keeps constipation in check.” Whether you experience occasional digestive discomfort or want to support your gut daily, adding papaya to your morning routine is a simple, effective step toward better digestion.

According to Medanta, papaya encourages gut health due to the presence of papain, or papaya protease, an enzyme that breaks down protein, making digestion easier and decreasing bloating and constipation. The high fibre and water content of papaya can help to maintain regular bowel movements and gut health, and can also help with weight management. Papaya also contains a number of healthful antioxidants, antimicrobial compounds, as well as vitamin C, vitamin A, and folate.
